Research Projects:
Clinical Science
- Clinical trials on new oral- and parenteral-active drugs
- New treatment approaches in radioreceptor therapy
- Local sclerotherapy in comparison with alternative treatments
- Treatment of the carcinoid heart disease (Hedinger syndrome) with non-surgical/non-invasive procedures
Basic Science
- Studies to improve the early detection of tumors by molecular imaging using optical and radioactive methods. Eligible candidate ligands for imaging are determined with the aid of a large number of defined fluorescence- or radioactive-labeled receptor ligands.
- Studies to improve the understanding and treatment of carcinoid syndrome, Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and “hypoglycemic” syndrome: By the means of vesicular secretion analyzes and functional analyzes of channel- and receptor-proteins (e.g. GABA receptors, vesicular monoamine transporters, calcium and TRP channels, etc.)
Tumor Growth:
Creation of molecular fingerprints of individual tumors and use of the resulting knowledge of changed molecular parameters for the therapy and clinical practice.
