Wards

Our Department of Hepatology and Gastroenterology, CCM/CVK, has 100 inpatient beds (including 6 intensive care beds) on both campuses. The wards treat diseases from the entire field of internal medicine with a focus on the areas of gastroenterology, gastroenterological oncology and hepatology.

Range of services in the wards

On the wards of the clinic you can be treated for diseases from the field of gastroenterology and hepatology. On all wards, both doctors and nurses are competent in dealing with all diseases from these areas:

  • Advanced liver diseases including preparation for liver transplantation
  • Malignant diseases of the digestive tract and liver
  • Gastrointestinal bleeding
  • Chronic inflammatory bowel diseases
  • Short bowel syndrome
  • Pancreatic diseases
  • Neuroendocrine tumors

Information on inpatient admission and treatment

Inpatient treatment takes place on ward 118 (Campus Charité MItte), 48 and 49 (Campus Virchow-Klinikum) as well as on ward 47 (intensive care unit, CVK).

If possible, registration should be carried out via the referring physician so that important diagnostic and therapeutic steps can be planned in advance.  

On the day of inpatient admission, please bring the following documents:

  • the referral letter
  • a cost guarantee from your health insurance company
  • your health insurance card and, if available
  • your medical documents (preliminary findings, list of medications, etc.)

Admission generally takes place between 10:00 and 11:00. The medical and nursing team will make every effort to make your stay as pleasant as possible and respond to your personal needs.

If endoscopic examinations are scheduled on the day of admission, you must present fasting.
