Polymicrobial Diagnostics und Therapy

The outpatient clinic for polymicrobial infections and bacterial biofilms mainly treats patients with ulcerative colitis and Crohn's disease (M. Crohn). The diagnostics are an essential enrichment for the therapy of these diseases.

Microbiological examination procedures

By means of microbiological examination procedures it is possible to characterize diseases of the digestive tract in a special way. The outpatient clinic works closely with the Molecular Genetics Laboratory for polymicrobial infections and mucosal pathogens.

Disease patterns

  • Post-infectious colitis
  • Abdominal complaints
  • Enteropathies and chronic diarrhea
  • Sprue
  • Appendicitis (non-surgical)
  • Abdominal complaints associated with bacterial vaginosis, chronic cystitis (bladder infection), prostatitis, chronic bacterial bladder and kidney infections, malignant tumors of the blood, condition after chemotherapy, radiation, transplantation
  • Other diseases with bacterial background: colon carcinoma, gallstones, tonsillitis, oral inflammation, heart disease, neurological diseases with increased inflammatory background without identifiable source of infection.
